Default Weber carb advice

Thinking about buying a new carb from trollhole on mud. It would be jetted for our altitude and probably a little better mileage than my weber. He's asking $250 and I'll have to buy a new cable. What do you guys think a used weber should sell for?

Ok, I'll post what I'm thinking and probably most of us are.

Don't put a weber carb in your Land Cruiser.

Somewhat of a hijack - but it's my understanding that Trollhole carbs
are 'desmogged' - meaning they may not allow you to pass emissions.
So if you have to pass emissions, best check that first.

Sorry, no ideas as to the value of the Weber.

I don't believe a used weber will fetch a price anywhere close to retail. The price point for a new Trollhole or a JimC/MarkA rebuild are not that far from a retail weber.

If you're wanting to fine tune a carburetor, you will find it is easy to get different jet sizes for a Weber. Finding jets for the stock AISAN is not an easy proposition and I don't know if the Trollhole carb is any easier.

Prior to dropping the coin on different carb, you might want to get the Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) from you current setup. Any shop that works on carb vehicles will have the monitoring equipment to do this. If you put in an Oxygen Sensor bung, I have a Zeitronix unit that we can use. Your AFR is the prime indicator for tuning the rig for Fuel Ecomony versus Power.

you could do a search on craigslist or the 'MUD classifieds to see what people are asking for them...

Cool thanks, my 40 is a 7/70 with a desmogged 2f. I am not totally impressed with the weber mostly for the mileage. I average 11mpg, otherwise it always starts and never stalls. Since my cruiser is a 70 and I have collector plates I don't need emissions. And last RMC put that weber on my cruiser to "win me over" after a long and painful battle to get their work/mistakes fixed. Ricardo, Ill put the jets on my list on wants for my rig.

I have a Weber on my desmogged 77 and I get 15 on the highway and 12 in town. It got 13 on the highway in CO though. I've seen used Webers go on mud from 25 - 100ish IIRC.
