6". No really it is. I wouldn't lie about something like that.

I compressed the stock one (I beleive) off my 40 and it was about 18" from center of u-joint to center of u-joint. HTH

matts tube on his shaft(go ahead insert funny rude comment) was about 7.5"
it defintly looks to be rewelded when comparing to the d-shafts i had.

i may have thought he had a sm tranny in it cause it would have bolted right up to my 40 with a sm465 and flipped rear 60 pack
and my trans to t-case adapter is about 4-6"

Thanks Ian, that sounds pretty close to what I have. I could use some more for verification if anybody still hasn't piped up.

I have a spare set from a 77 in my garage, plus the ones that are on my 76. I'll try to remember to go measure it for you tomorrow and post it up here. I still owe you a photo af a wiring harness connector too!
