Default Newbie - just joined...

Hey guys !!!

My name is Bill and i'm pretty new to the 4x4 scene... just bought a '97 unlocked LX450 a few months ago.

My wife and I will be moving to Denver within 2 years, so I figured I should join the forum and get acquainted.

How good are the unlocked 80-series Cruisers in the snow? I'm not sure if I want to keep the Cruiser or go with a truck...

I'm willing to go at least $5 more than whatever Ian's latest offer is.

Welcome to the forum. Your LX450 will be sweet in the snow and on most of the Colorado trails. If you want lockers, you can always get some ARBs.

Great pics. Are you a TLCA member? If so, I might borrow a picture for the TLCA web site. You just might be a "picture of the week" (see the home page).

I have heard the latteral part of the "L" is a problem and will keep it from doing well off highway. Seriously, welcome to the board! 80's (450's) are fantastic in the snow with proper tires. I think you'll get hooked quickly!

I was just worried about traction in the snow without lockers... do you guys stay locked in the winter?

Well, I joined the local chapter (Green Country Cruisers) when I bought the truck... so I guess I did join.

I have high-res versions available, just let me know.

No no no no no!!! We only lock up on snow runs, when trying to get stuck or trying to bash through stuff, or pulling each other out. Lockers are instant death on the highway, you're much better off with open diffs in snowy conditions.

Not necessarily... are you getting Toyota Trails magazine in the mail? If not, you're probably not a member. You can see TT for yourself here:
