Me too. I wasn't even looking for a truck, but this one fell into my lap and I couldn't pass it up. I am going to have to build a couple of garages at this rate.

I'm sure there are those that would consider 5 Toyota 4x4s to be excessive, but really, too much of a good thing? Unpossible!

The original idea was to leave it stock and let her use it alternately with her current 4Runner to cut the wear in half. After driving the new one she decided she prefers her old one because of the factory sport suspension and the 32s (235/85) I put on it. It sits about 3 inches higher than this SR5 stock and the suspension is much firmer. She loves her 4Runner so much I can't even get her to seriously look at a 100 Series.

Now she is in agreement with a mild build for the new one and using it for FS roads and expeditioning, er, I mean camping. Which reminds me, does anybody know where the ECU is located on 3rd gen 4Runners? Hopefully not in the kick panel!

I have my old 80 front coils to put on the back of this runner, and I may try to source some of the Tundra springs to put on the front. Still more research to do on lifts before I pull the trigger. I would like to run skinny 33s (255/85) on it. Add bumpers, sliders and skids and call it good. With the rear e-locker it'll go where I need it to go. I hope.

Those 80 coils are going to make for a BIG lift, without any sliders or bumpers or fridges to weigh it down... fun though. HBD!

Yeah, depending on what I've got. I haven't looked at my old springs yet, but they had about 230k on them when I put the lift on the 80, so they are plenty broke in!

From the Toyota-4Runner.org FAQ:

"The FJ80 Landcruiser Spring
a cheap effective way to achieve a good amount of lift and flex is to install FRONT springs from a FJ80 (1991-1997) Landcruiser in the REAR of the 3rd gen. there are many different versions of these springs but that main way to identify them is to count how many wraps they have which generally will determine how much lift you will get. you can usually pick up a pair of these for under $100 at a junkyard or on a forum classified section.

7 wrap is about 3-3.5" of lift
8 is about 4"
9 is about 5"

Height of spring/color code/wraps

21" Blue Pink White 9.25 wraps
21" Grey Orange White 9.25 wraps
20.25" Blue Yellow White 8.75 wraps-one of these is a confirmed LX450
19.5" Green Yellow White 8.25 wraps-one of these is a confirmed LX450
19.5" Purple Green White 8 wraps
19.25" Double Purple Dark Blue White 8 wraps
19" Double Pink Light Blue White 7.5 wraps
18.5" Double Pink Grey White 7.5 wraps
18 7/8" Orange Orange White 7.75 wraps

you can also use the OME 851, which is a lift spring for the FJ80. that usually gives about 6 inches of lift.

Pros: Cheap, lots of lift, flexes really well.
Cons: Will sag under load."

I have no idea yet how reliable this info is. I could live with 3"-3.5", but not 5"! Probably end up with OME or similar as well.

Glad to hear the ECU is up high. I was afraid it was low like in the 4th gen runners. Nice lookin ride Justin!
