Default Forum resizing photos randomly?

Does anyone know how to stop the forum from resizing my pictures? Maybe it is just my PC but the first photo in this post, and the second photo in the second post, is a smaller size.

In the post above, the first pic is a thumbnail and the other two are full sized.

I ran into this recently as well also on W10/chrome. I was initially thinking it's the size of the files that triggers the re-size (bits and bytes, not pixel count), but looking at file sizes vs what changed that doesn't seem to be it. Still unknown.
