Default Field Day 2013

http://www.arrl.org/field-day

Field Day is the 4th weekend of June, so this year will be 22 June 2013 @ 1800 UTC (Saturday at noon here) through 23 June 2013 @ 2059 UTC (Sunday at 2:59PM). Maybe some of the NorCal guys will work it from the Rubicon.

Anyone interested in a camping and radio run? KC0YRM, KD0DCW and I had a good time last year. I will have my antenna issues sorted this year Brian, no issues with band mobility from 80m and up. I hope. :-)

No can do this year, my brother-in-law is getting hitched that weekend. The wedding is gonna be up in Granby and I'm planning on getting a few hours on the air on Sat from noon until the service starts and then again on Sun AM. Planning on working 20 and above to keep antenna size manageable (possibly a Buddipole).

Bummer, but should be more fun than sitting around under a tarp dehydrating.

Would rather be playing radio, no matter what the conditions, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Bumping this to gage interest. Does anyone want to test your skills at getting a station on the air afield? I have not decided what my plan is, but if I'm solo I might do a backpack portable 1B (small solar panel & battery).

But I would be very happy to coordinate a team effort, just need to come up with a location.

BTW, you do not have to have an HF station to work Field Day. I will and most stations will, but if you want to shake out your portable VHF setup that would be fantastic. If we have people interested our station could be a GOTA, Get On The Air, station. Which lets non-hams participate by allowing a non-ham to talk with a ham present and controlling the radio.

I might be interested in hooking up with you in the afternoon. The kids have a swim meet that morning, but this should be finished by 1:00 p.m.
