Default Moving to Denver from the other side of the mountains

Hi All,

My wife recently got her dream job at the Denver Art Museum so we are moving your way at the end of the year. We currently live in Utah where we both work in art museums. I'm max.powerzz on Mud and Wasatch Cruisers, and have met many of you at Cruise Moab over the years. We're sad to leave Utah but really excited to move to Denver, but holy cow it has gotten expensive the last couple of years! $250k seems to get you a 400 square foot studio with no parking and suspect schools

I currently have a 1968 fj40 that we'll sadly have to sell to make the move, but we are keeping our fj62 that's pretty capable and comfy. I have an old m416 trailer but depending on where we land not sure if we'll have a spot to park it.

Looking forward to getting to know many of you and becoming Coloradoans (my grandpa is from Denver, does that count towards our immigration?).

Jeff Lambson

Max Powerzzz...
The name you want to touch....
But you mustn't touch!!!!

I have never been able to see your name on Mud, without singing the Max Powers theme song in my head.

Welcome to CO! I'm sure you guys will love it here, and I know you won't find a better & bigger Cruiser Club anywhere! The guys & gals here are awesome.

And yeah, CO is expensive these days, but be patient & keep looking. You'll find the right thing eventually. It helps if you don't mind doing some work on a place to make it your own.

Also, if you prefer to not sell anything until you find out where you are going to land, and how much space you'll have, you could park your 40 & trailer at our house for a while, until you get your bearings & all that. We live in Boulder Canyon, so we have a fair amount of freedom regarding, "too many vehicles"...

Best,
Abe

Am I going to have trouble registering my 62 in CO? It has a 5.3 chevy conversion.

It is a little bit famous: this is Kurt Williams (of Cruiser Outfitters) first cruiser he built with his dad. They put in a rebuilt 2f, a 4 on the floor, and the awesome scalloped paint job. I've since added disc brakes, power steering, and made the lights work, which is a huge accomplishment. I bought it as a non-runner 5 or 6 years ago from Jim at Portal Tek axles, who had it in his driveway for a while and didn't know about its cool heritage. She runs like a sewing machine and stops better than the 62!

Are there certain areas where it is harder to pass emissions or is Denver metro all the same? Will we have trouble passing a 5.3 swap? It passes smog here with flying colors.
