Default Help me design a removable Storage/camping box for the 40

I scored a nice Tuffy rear storage box that nearly fills the back of the 40. It has both a drop down door and a full size hinged lid on gas struts. I have a host of things that I could install on it, and I bought it for the locking storage for summers when the top is off.

I'm adding a storage tailgate soon for the vehicle everyday items like jumper cables, winch controller, small tool set, first aid kit etc. But I want this box to support all my summer activities of hiking, backpacking, wheeling, day trips with friends.

I am thinking out-loud/brainstorming here of adding:
  • Power Inverter.
  • LED interior lights.
  • 12v/USB outlets.
  • Rubber floor to the box to present rattles.
  • Painting the interior white to ease finding things, I love this on my trailer.
  • A way to strap dry bags to the top lid.
  • Maybe incorporate a slide out shelf table below the box.
  • Possibly integrate some speakers for the topless months.
  • Wings to form a tonneau cover around the tub.
  • On board water with faucet.

I'm just thinking out loud now that I have the base locking box. I have all the above sitting around the garage as left overs from the trailer/other projects. I can add my fridge, air tank, fuel tanks, propane all up on the wheel wells and behind the seats.

Thoughts?

what do you need help with Drew? Sounds like you have the box and ideas for all the add-ons. Do you need help making it removable? Or ideas on how to attach all the add-ons to the box?

I have had an idea for removable FJ40 storage rolling around in my head for years, but it precludes using the Tuffy box.

Thoughts or suggestions, just looking for input and thoughts.

Default Slides

Drop down roller slides a la Tembo tusk style.

I'm a fan of power pole connectors as I've standardized my plug n play 12v goodies with that. I put a 5 circuit pp fused panel in the back of my 60.

Here it is in the cruiser... It's a nice fit with lots of potential. I'll likely bolt it down with logistics track.

Thumbs up Also this is AWESOME!!!

One of the "Outlaws" has this...I want. It's really cool - it'll run the fridge all night, charge stuff, run lights, whatever you need.
