Argentine is great for camping but it's a tough spot to get RF out, as we found out the first RS Field Day.

I would like to this year but will have to sit on the side and listen to see where we settle on. I would prefer north or northwest but please do not accommodate me if something more preferable is found. That place down near Pueblo was pretty awesome, but that is nowhere near north...

I'll be on my way back from India that weekend.

It's too bad too, I have had the '40 out and running the radios.

Default Bump

Bump for final Planing

Long range forecast calls for a chance of rain on Fri with highs in the 90's and lows in the 60's for Fri, Sat and Sun. Remember that this is CO and things could change in an instant.

Set up will begin Fri afternoon, Mike and I plan on arriving early Fri afternoon and start setting up. Radio ops will begin Sat at noon and run till Sun noon. Usually things start to wind down Sun around 9 or 10 am unless the bands are really smoking.

The ranch land, where we set up, has NO facilities. Bring plenty of water and your PETT potty. As of now there are no fire restrictions so BBQs are OK and there's a fire ring if you are inclined to have a camp fire. Bring wood, there's none to be found on site and, again, remember that this is CO and things could change in an instant.

There is plenty of room for campers but the road in is unimproved and can get tight in the trees in spots. Expect some pin striping but no damage. The set up spot is level and there is adequate shade and plenty of elbow room.

If you're bringing a radio, have a way to power it. At this point with Dave's and my setup my little Honda generator will be close to maxed out.

The talk in freq is via the Colorado Connection CoSpgs Repeater 145.130 -600KHz off set and a 123.0Hz tone. Alternate repeater will be the Pikes Peak machine 146.970 -600KHz off set and a 100Hz tone. Yes you're going to have to talk on a repeater so get over it We will also try to contact the Argentine clean up crew via the CoConn during their run.

Alternate non-ham family member activities include boating, fishing and swimming, 10 mins away, at Pueblo Res State park. There is plenty of hiking in the area and fossil hunting in the creek below the ranch.

You don't have to have a radio, OR EVEN BE A HAM, to attend. Field Day is a family friendly event, it's all about getting outside, operating in the field, trying new things and having fun.
