Default Viewing Candy - Icon FJ44

Very little left of the Toyota FJ except the body looks, but pretty cool nonetheless....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaHRHWPZHRs

Anybody have a spare $175K I can borrow?

...also there was never an FJ44 from Toyota. Toyota made the FJ43, and the BJ44, but I can find no record of an FJ44.

Not that it takes any artistic license away from Mr. Ward (and if I were doing what he has been, I'd probably add a number to something the way Toyota would have, if I were making something that never existed).

The only thing left of the FJ40s that TLC starts with is the frame number, IIRC.

Yep, he took a little creative license with the name. But sounds like Toyota didn't have an issue with it.

Shows how long it's been since I watched the video!

I've seen a couple ICONs driving by in person, but haven't gotten to get a good look up close at one. I'd love to someday.

Especially since he's been dabbling in Power Wagons a bit (at least with his "Derelict" line).

Every TLC product I have gotten to look at closely has pretty well blown me away with how well done it is.

It really wouldn't be hard to convert a 40 chassis to fit that body. And with Canadian exchange rate so good now it may be the time to do so if u want a aqualu bodied 4 door cruiser.

Its not even a corvette engine. Its a 5.3 truck engine. I'm totally at a loss as to why he doesnt use an E Rod engine of some tastier flavor if he's gonna build them with GM drivetrains. Seems like a no brainer. I mean the E Rod 5.3 vanilla 315hp motor is 6ish k. For the E Rod LSA which makes 556hp and 551 lb-ft its like 12k. What kind of a dent does that put in his bottom line if he's selling them for 160k?

I don't want to hear the "the truck motor is more reliable, and it's suited better for crawling and wheeling" crap either. Nobody that buys one of those things is going to wheel like they think they are. Sure they'll take it on easy trails, but 99.99% of the time it'll be on roads. And if i had it it'd be the same even..... and what are you going to do? mash the pedal and have an anemic 300hp (300is lb-ft) engine make loud noises and be like "If I paid 160k for this thing shouldn't it like do on command rolling burnouts?" Sure the LSA makes all the power at redline, but isn't that where it's gonna be at the tunnel?
