Default BRC Alert- Roadless

It's a bit shrill, but Roadless is indeed an issue. Take a moment, will ya?
___________________________________________________________
URGENT ACTION ALERT
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED

Access to Colorado's Roadless Areas Threatened by Radical Environmentalists!
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
SITUATION:
As you know, BRC members and supporters, along with representatives of the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition (COHVCO), participated in the efforts of the Colorado Roadless Areas Review Task Force to craft recommendations on how to manage Colorado's 4.4 million acres of "Roadless" lands.

We participated in good faith, side by side with representatives of local governments, environmental groups, other recreational users and business groups, in order to craft a true collaborative compromise on the contentious Roadless issue in Colorado.
Sadly, or should I say - predictably - Colorado's radical environmental groups are attempting to destroy all the good work that has been accomplished and use their political power to push Governor Ritter to support their agenda - collaboration and cooperation be damned!
(You can read about their efforts in an Associated Press story by Judith Kohler:
Ritter seeks interim protection for Colorado's roadless areas
http://www.examiner.com/a-557511~Ritter_seeks_interim_protection_for_Colorado_s_roadless_areas.html)
This crowd in Colorado talks big about collaboration and inclusive decision making. Now we see how seriously they are about living up to their agreements.
Indeed, earlier this week, BRC received a copy of a mass-mail alert from these groups encouraging Governor Ritter to scrap the recommendations made by the Task Force in favor of the top-down, one size fits all "Clinton Rule." We estimate the Governor received hundreds of emails.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Colorado state legislators who support the collaborative process, and who are willing to live up to their agreements, have proposed a resolution urging Governor Ritter not meddle with the compromise agreement.

Please email your state legislators and the governor and let them know you want him to live up to the agreements worked out in the Colorado Roadless Task Force compromise. Please take just a minute to send an email asking key Colorado legislators not to meddle with the Task Force's compromise.
Click on the following link http://capwiz.com/share/issues/alert/?alertid=9417841&type=CUto send an email to State Senator Jim Isgar (D-Hesperus), State Representative Kathleen Curry (D-Gunnison) and Governor Bill Ritter (D-CO).
If you'd rather call, their numbers are:

State Senator Jim Isgar (D-Hesperus) 303-866-4884 office

State Representative Kathleen Curry (D-Gunnison) 303-866-2945 office

Governor Bill Ritter (D-CO) 303-866-2471 office

Thanks in advance for your action. As always, if you have any comments or questions please give me a call.

Default Take a moment and compose an email!

I chose to focus on the natural resource committees. I may get to be pen-pals with them; I should be at least given my office. A senator and a representative did not have emails listed.

Be sure to use your own words to compose the email, at least use some of your own content.
Sent to the committees listed below:

Subject: SJR07-015 Roadless Recommendations

Agriculture, Livestock, & Natural Resources Committee
Representative Curry, Chairman
Representative Gallegos, Vice-Chairman
Representatives Fischer, Gardner C., Gibbs, Hodge, Looper, McFadyen, McKinley, McNulty, Rose, Solano, & Sonnenberg

Honorable Representatives on the Agriculture, Livestock, & Natural Resources Committee,

Please Support SJR07-015 by Senator Penry to encourage the protection of Colorado's Roadless areas as agreed upon by the bi-partisan Task Force that was created by the General Assembly for that very purpose.
The bi-partisan Task Force worked for 18 months in the field to get everyone's opinions and mountains of data to support the final recommendation.

These recommendations were forged in the spirit of compromise and collaboration which represented the wishes of the people of the state of Colorado. They also represent the best balance between economic, environmental and recreational interests.

Any changes now are going to be viewed as a betrayal and lies by the public who participated in the process. Please do not let this happen.

Thank you,
