And so it begins...I'm thinking we need to have Wes (or someone with the powah') edit the title and call this thread the "Frauds, Phishing, Warnings, and Chain Letters"

Credit goes to Tim for thinking up that idea

I done changed it. I'm capable of those one-banana tasks on the forum. Wes handles all the hard stuff.

Default How to pump gas

Here you go.. not sure how valid all this is, but it can't hurt. How to pump gas:

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS--GOOD INFO
I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline....Here in California we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per gallon. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon.

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose, CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening.... your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder. If there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up -- most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.

these crack me up.. anyone want to write this guy back? (for entertainment value only, yes it's a scam)

FROM THE MANAGER CREDIT & FOREIGN BILLS.
FIRST NATIONAL BANK SOUTH AFRICA
JOHANNESBURG,
SOUTH AFRICA.
Tel : 0027 738 233 262
Email: jacobsisulu10@yahoo.com

ATTENTION: Sir/Madam,
My name is Dr Jacob Sisulu the Manager, Credit and Foreign bills of FIRST NATIONAL BANK SOUTH AFRICA. I am writing in respect of a foreign customer of our bank whose name is Mr.Andreas Schranner, a German property magnate who lost his life on Monday 31st of July 2000, along with his wife, Maria and their children and even grand children in a plane crash, the AF4590 Crash including all 109 people on board and five who died on the ground when the Plane crashed into the Hotelissimo and till now the account remains dormant.

Refer to the website below for more details:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/859479.stm

Since the demise of this customer, I personally have watched with keen interest to see the next of kin to this customer, but all has proved abortive as no one has come to claim his funds of US$36.5M (Thirty Six Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) which has been with our branch for a very long time. On this note, I decided to seek for whom his name shall be used as the Next of Kin as no one has come up as his next of kin. And the banking ethics here does not allow such money to stay more than Ten years, because the money will be recalled to the bank treasury as unclaimed fund after this period. In view of this I got your contact through a trade journal when I was making a research on a foreigner I will use in this great opportunity. For your assistant I and my colleague are willing to give you 20% of the total amount.

Upon the receipt of your response, I will send you by fax the letter of application which you will re-type sign and send back to our bank to enable us start the processing of this claim. I will not fail to bring to your notice that this business is hitch free and that you should not entertain any fear as all modalities for the smooth and easy transfer of this fund has been finalized, this transaction will be completed within five banking days of receiving your response, after you apply to the bank as a relation to the deceased I will use my position to fasten the release and transfer of this customers money to you as the next of kin.

When you receive this letter. Kindly call me in signifying your decision. Please include your private Tel/Fax numbers for quick communication.

Yours Sincerely,

Dr.Jacob Sisulu.

Default Woo hooooo!! I'm going to be rich....beers on me boys...

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am Mr.Azzam Mahmud, Chairman of the Tender Committee in an oil company.
My Committee is principally concerned with payment of all contract awarded
from 2004 to date, in order of priority as regard capital projects of our
corporation.

I am positive and convinced that you would provide us with solution to a
money transfer deal valued at US$13 Million (Thirteen Million United
States Dollars) and subsequently a joint business venture. I will need
bank account in your country or offshore account.

I would like to invest the money in manufacturing of products. If you have
any other idea of investment, that would be welcomed by me. The money will
be bank-to-bank transfer with out any risk involved.

In the course of our duties as values, and project inspectors for the
on-going liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project, we have over-invoiced the
value of some jobs done by foreign contractors to the tune of
US$13Million.

As follows: -
(1) Computer optimization and Installation 4,000.000.00.
(2) Installation of 250,000.00 Monax Turbine$6,000.000.00
(3) Turn around Maintenance $3,000,000.00

The money will be shared as follows after transfer, 30% for you 70% for me.
I know exactly how to present you / your company as the Beneficiary of the
funds. The transfer is bank-to-bank, there is no risk involved.

Yours Faithfully,
Mr.Azzam Mahmud.

Speaking of scammers...Did anyone watch the news last night about the guy that "scammed" the scammers? I missed but from the previews played on the radio it sounded like the guy was able to get one scammer to tattoo himself
