Well the fire has reached about 17,000 acres, but is pretty much contained and is really only smoldering - the recent rains have helped.

This weekend we got to meet a new friend in Bandelier Nat'l Monument - and I got the rattle greeting

Also went up to Chama yesterday and caught the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad engine # 489 on top of Cumbres Pass

No, actually haven't done it yet - just happened to see the engine at the top of Cumbres Pass when I was driving by. It looks like it would be an awesome train ride though - highly recommend looking into it

The line suffered a setback when fire damaged the Lobato Trestle, rendering it temporarily impassable to trains. Regularly scheduled service out of Chama continues, however, with motor coach transportation from the Chama Depot to the Cumbres Station, high point of the 64-mile route.
