What did you use to cut the metal out? That alone has kept mine on the shelf 'cuz I don't want to screw up the cutting

Dumb question: is the piano hinge always at the top or can you reverse it?

I used a metal cutoff wheel. Buy the Pferd brand, they work really well. I did have to break out the sawzall to get to the braces as the cutoff isn't deep enough.

The piano hinge is that way on all of them....I think the reason is the tailgate mechanism is right there and would interfere with the latch.

Pics of the inside. I am still going to line the tailgate with some rubber.

Installed the National Luna kit with a slight modification. The solenoid they provide is 85amps continuous and whether it was right or not, I felt the need to upgrade it to something bigger. The Wrangler is 200amps continuous with a 600amp momentary (30sec I think). The Warn 9500 pulls 490 at peak so that should be better. The brains were remoted to the back of the box to make room for the big solenoid.

Here are a few other mods to round out things I have put off for too long.

One kick ass table! Stainless and always there if you need one.

And some fused switched power for the interior. I used the old cigarette lighter to energize the relay and ran a constant power source to the lighter. I have always disliked that the lighter was only on with the key on. This kit from Painless has half switched and the other are constant. Even wired up the seat heaters.

It is the African Outback table. I don't think it is very heavy but you have to be tall enough to reach the rack. It appears the stainless is a very high grade as well.
