Default Wilderness first aid class?

Hey folks, didn't we discuss having one of these a while back? It might make a good winter activity in association with our club.

The topic came up on an adventure motorcycling BBS, and it would be a great way to cross-fertilize some OHV PR as well as maybe save someone's life someday!

maybe mine...

I think it should be mandatory to join the club. That said Im not interested. I hate the site of blood. JUST KIDDING. I think it is a great idea. would it include a CPR cert?

I've looked into wilderness first responder classes in the past. They're pretty expensive and take a few days to complete. Were you suggesting more of a first aid overview? I think it's a goods idea.

I think SeldomSeen talked about it, and yeah, it would [edit, include CPR]. Wilderness First Responder cert. But then, SeldomSeen is seldom seen. Maybe Chris will pipe in soon?

Yes. I can teach a course we call Emergency First Responder, which is basic first aid & CPR. It is not specific to scuba, but we offer it at A-1 Scuba. Course fee is $55 and materials fee is $35. It takes approximately 4 hours and includes a CPR certification. It would be simplest to do it at A-1 Scuba. When would you all want to do this?

Cool- sometime in the dead of winter, after Christmas perhaps? Would there be a possibility of offering a club or volume discount? How many could you teach?

Depending on what you want to do, I could cross-post it on that adventure motorcycling board where they have a thread going on it.

Might be an interesting joint effort with COHVCO, the originator of the thread is a COHVCO person.

I don't make a whole lot on these as it is. I can teach up to 12 students on my own. If someone like Brian joined me I could increase that number to 24.

How much interest is there on the motorcycle board? Maybe two separate groups?

I posted up to gauge interest.

Redhabu is a COHVCO trails person.

Here is a thread that precipitated the interest, a good rider took a strange fall and broke his leg in the middle of Golden Spike, just above boot top. Not a good thing to do this time of year. Lucky it wasn't compound.
