you can save the 20 pirate pages and go to http://www.wentworthsprings.org/

also even if you aren't a hunter in colorado but are in the backcountry alot you might consider buying a habitat stamp. It covers the cost of SAR.

That is why I always buy a fishing license each year, I may only fish once a year but it is cheap insurance. I don't hunt so therefore the switch. You are also covered it you buy a OHV sticker for your motorcycle or snowmobile, just FYI,

I saw this thread last week, some lucky young men that SAR has the equipment they do. Mistakes are made, it sounds like the young men needed to be better prepared and look at the weather before heading into the hills. hopefully they will learn. later robbie

x2

Hindesite is 20/20 but it sounds like they knew weather was coming in and continued to push it. Now, I am the first to admit I have done tons of stupid stuff... but come on.

I was leading a backpacking trip of college men from Iowa to the Rocky Mountains the spring that Denver got hammered about 4-5 years back. At the last minute I changed our plans and got us a hotel and planned day hikes instead. The guys were calling me a wimp, but after the storm, they were calling me genius. The rangers we were in contact with said the Golden Gate area (our planned area to backpack) had drifts up to 10 feet!

I learned a lot about the difference between responsibility and adventure on that trip!

Glad those guys are fine, and it does look like quite the adventure, avoidable adventure
