The place where we used to live had the DSP&PRR narrow gauge tracks running on its western edge, on Platte Canyon Road.

It was officially known as the Denver, South Park, & Pacific Railroad, but popularly called the Darn Slow Pulling & Pretty Rough Riding.

I went up to Alpine Pass this summer. All I have to say is those folks who built those rails up there were nuts. They are true Hardcore people. The folks doing extreme sports today are weenies compared to them.
