Default Scepter Cans

http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/soca.../#post-9488636

Hey All,
I was thinking of going for 4 of these Scepter cans. Figured I'd see if anyone else was interested. If we can get 20 together, he'll give us a bit of a discount, & we could possibly save on shipping by moving via Pallet.

What do you guys think?

Please put me down for at least 2 of them if you get an order together.

Default Same can a lot cheaper

Guys,

If you can stand having you can say water instead of fuel, these are the exact same cans for a lot cheaper. And brand new. If you buy more than 50 dollars worth they ship for free.

Can you confirm that with certainty? My understanding has always been that those water cans look similar, but are not actually built to the same specs. I don't know if that is true or not, but that is what I've been told. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks,
Abe

I would also take 2 if you get to 20.

The ones I bought about 2 years ago were Scepter Cans. They just said "water" on them. However I see now that they are calling them Skilcraft. So things might have changed.

Do yours have a single handle at the top, or three across the top lot the Nato ones (Jerry Can design)?

If you can confirm that then great, but I understood the fuel cans were thicker and the spout was different. I know the lid strap is a lot shorter on the water cans since it doesn't have to clear the spout. I have the Scepter filler that's just a lid and a long 3/4" hose (e.g. not 'safe') so I believe the cans must be the 3-handle military type.

Mine are single handle.

I found a thread on ExPo disccusing this exact situation & the consensus there was that the cans are definitely different. the MFC cans are thicker, and a different flange like Dave mentions above. Several people chose to go the water can route, but it all came down to personal risk preference, etc... I think I'm still going to move forward on these, as the price is right. hopefully we can get 20 together to save dough all around.
