Default Technology today

Last night Bonni said call the kids to dinner. The normal routine is what every Dad does is yell "DINNER". Last night I pulled out my cell phone and texted both of them who were in their rooms. Within 45 seconds they both came to the table. Bonni looked confused and said "I didn't hear you yell for them?"

Aint technology grand

LOL! That is funny. I have heard from an RA on CU's campus they witnessed two freshman arguing over some roommate issues over text messages...

... they were in the SAME ROOM with their backs to one another. New meaning to the term "cold shoulder" I guess.

OMG those are funny stories...My 8yo believes she "needs" a cell phone because some of her friends have them already . I'm now a "bad father" but my 17yo niece already suffers from carpal tunneling because of computer use and text messaging so I figure my daughter can wait...

Reminds me of the bartender who noticed 2 customers at opposite ends of the bar chatting by cell phone. He immediately banned cell phones from his bar. Technology is great but when it seriously interferes with human communication simply because someone can it's going the wrong way IMHO.

My younger son is a text addict. All hours. We are considering disabling texting on his phone.

On the other hand, when I am in the garage my wife calls my cell to call me in for dinner.

I don't complain. There is food on the other end, after all.

Texting. Yeah, lil' Morgan's phone kept beeping all evening. Those were all text messages? I'd have thrown that phone across the garage and then just to be sure, walked across the room and hit it with a 8 lbs sledge. After that, I would have swept up the debris and put it into a Blendtec Commerical Blender.

I had a cell phone for two years. I misplaced it for about 2 months, plugged it in and had missed exactly zero phone calls. What a waste of resources and money, I don't miss it one bit.

Do it.

My 17 yr old got a $750 cell phone bill due to texting (over 4000 sent ). But he lives with his mother and she foots the bill , so I'm not concern about the $$ as much as the time "wasted".

BTW she did decide maybe she should get "unlimited texting" on the phones. In his defense ...she told him she was going to get it... eventually. (she might be a bit of a procrastinator) so he jumped the gun a tad

(does the make me a bad "ex" )

When he gets tired of Thomas, our son says "I want to watch a pod cast." They're actually pretty good, little 5 minute episodes of Sesame Street where they teach you a word of the day.
