Figured it would be good to plan on food and what meals we are doing as a group and individual. Also, we can decide who's cooking or ????

Dave - I worked with Tonny Twiddy that we would be one of the first "groups" to leave. I suppose you could stay back. There isn't a caranage. Tony explained to me how they have an order of groups and keep things moving with spotters all along the way so there are no holdups

Just a thought, that way the group part of group run is reinforced. So say Kirsten and I grab a third person and our team makes one night's dinner or/and breakfast.

By my estimation, we are doing as a group (forgetting the Rubithon or Casino provided meals):

Dinner on 6/18, 6/19, 6/20
Breakfast on 6/19, 6/20, 6/22

Although Sunday's breakfast might be skipped in favor of a fast exit. Personally, I'm OK with hanging around and waiting to get out, so the Rising Sun group might split up then, the people who have hard/fast commitments hustle out and the other half enjoy a sunrise cup of coffee and relaxing wait for the carnage of people leaving. If I go first, I'd be the guy clogging the trail and being ruthlessly dragged out of the way. :-)

So I don't mind being responsible for a meal or two. You end up just making more of what you would anyway. On our annual hut trips we typically do stuff like burritos, pancakes, stews and pasta. Plus with all the fridges and dutch ovens, group cooking should be easy enough.

This is the purpose of this thread to get everyone on the same page and ultimately we'll be able to understand our refrigeration/freezer needs too. We will be doing group and individual food planning so this thread will just sort out what we need to plan for. Nothing is set in stone yet and anything can be changed as this thread matures. We can break into smaller groups, no groups or feast. Whatever we do we need to plan as space for cooler space and equipment is limited.

Okey-dokey. I don't have any particular preference to hustle or wait it out, so I'll do whatever works to keep from screwing up the schedule.

Food: I don't mind fixing up a meal or two for the group if that's the way we go or just providing my stove and tailgate as part of a camp kitchen if we all end up responsible for our own food. I could potentially have up to 3 dutch ovens if we want to go that way, too.

Is this the thread to see what cooking stuff we have and need? Army surplus has those propane grils real cheap. Don't know if I should get one or if we are full of grills, maybe a flat top grill. Maybe we need to chip in on small propane bottles for the grilles, etc.

Dad and I will be leaving on Sunday from Buna Vista and will meet up with the group at Robbs on Tuesday. I have a good Coleman grill that I will be taking.
The group meals sound like a good way to go

I can cook a breakfast or dinner. We will need to bring a stove and cookware with us but would prefer not to take to much of it on the trail as we are very small in the storage area.

I have several small propane bottles and may have access to a 5# bottle with a line etc. instead of the big 20# bottles.

We do have a "real" coffee maker that sits on top of a burner and makes about 10 cups just as fast as at home. It will be with us too.

I will be working on packing the 4runner after this trip to see what we can bring and ......

I have 2 stoves and 2 grills, available to take if necessary. I'm all for the group meal on Monday night, and think that beyond basic cooking appliances that's about as far as we need to get, can't we discuss the rest of the meals on Monday night then stock up in Reno on Tuesday?

Not everyone is gonna be in the caravan and Wendover. I do plan to stock up in route, no way I'm leaving Denver with 11 days worth of food. But it would be nice to have some idea of what to pre-make and what to shop for along the way.
