Default heavy wind in June

A couple of weeks ago, heavy winds blew over our place in Arvada, and blew our 50 foot pine tree over that used to be standing in our yard...

We were lucky, no home damage was done to us, or our neighbor. Power lines were missed...the only thing hit was our shed...with minimal damage...

Other things were damaged including our pond liner from branches puncturing, and lawn furniture from a sitting garden at the base of the tree, but all said and done, we were unfortunate the tree went down, but lucky damage was limited...

Branches blocked the whole side yard, so removing branches to get to the shed was necessary. We left a bunch of "kickstands" on the ground to help support the trunk, and try to stop it from rolling prematurely.

Pics are of my Son for gauging size...he's a six footer...

The break in the trunk was when it was about 10" in diameter...fractured from impact on the shed roof...Finally had the tree service come to start cutting the trunk into moveable chunks...

You're not kidding, Ken! Like I said, we were very lucky!

We got everything removed but the root ball. The tree guys wouldn't take it because it was still fixed to the ground, and too heavy to move...

This gave me a chance to practice some winching on the root ball to get it out of the ground...

I strapped the trunk, and doubled over the winch line a couple of times to increase the pull power. Had the end of the winch line hooked to the bumper, then had snatch blocks shackled to the straps, and bumper again, then in to the winch...

Here's a drawing of what I mean...
