Looks really cool Oleg!

This is my friend Doug's 40. His uncle owned it since new in Arizona. He passed away last year and Doug wanted to get it running again.

Talk him into Painting that thing too Oleg!

The 3.4 is to V6s as the 22RE is to I4s. It is indeed a wonderful motor. Gonna blow it?

I will say that I was unhappy with the stock PS pump with the 3.4 though. It is a weak point. Just a thought.

Oleg,
Take careful notes....

I bought the '96 runner that you sold to Nakman, still runs perfectly (although the power antenna broke last week - the only thing that doesn't work perfectly after 12 years and 191k miles ) so I've become a huge fan of the 3.4. My plan was to make a decision at 200k, put "fun" money into the runner (lift, bumpers, etc...) or find a new toy, but if I get rear ended by a bus or something I'll be very interested in putting this engine into some other project. I was thinking a 1st gen runner, but I could be swayed to a 40.

Anyway, I'm sure the final build will be great, post up a lot of pictures so us dreamers can dream!

What are you planning to do for the wiring harness, computer, and what sensors are you planning on running ? will you splice into the stock harness to make the stock gauges work, or do you have other plans for the gauges ?

Looks Great so Far! i would never have thought to drop a 3.4 into an FJ40....

There was almost no wiring left in this rig. Notice the black spray paint on everything including lights? (Stealth) The owner had cut out most of the wiring and the instrument cluster was smashed.

Cool that this old rig is getting another chance.

This vehicle is not going to be built for hard core off-roading. The owner doesn't even want to go to the bigger tires. And of course I would like to finish the body work and paint on that vehicle, but not at this time. The drive train on it is going to be completely Toyota 4 Runner or Tacoma but what I like about this is that all of the parts we use are original Toyota. Right now the vehicle doesn't have any existing wiring and we are going to build a completely new harness using the donor vehicle's computer and wires. I would like to work faster but I'm still not strong enough to work at full speed. Here are some more pictures. Enjoy

Are the floors coming from that blue 66 I hauled over there at the beginning of the summer?
