Question Cranking the Tortion Bars

Good or Bad?

I see this all the time.

people cant afford lift so they CRANK up the tortion bars

Gonna need to clarify a bit.

Good or bad for what, exactly?

Lift? It will lift the truck. It will make your ride a bit stiffer, and will put a little more stress on things. Its cheap, and it'll do, so if money's tight, go for it.

I seen this thread and wanted to know how hard would it be for me to crank one up a bit? I have a 02 GMC and i had cranked them up for larger tires but have got back down in size. when they put the tires on they adjusted the bars but now it sits about a half inch lower on one side. what would it take to crank them up? if i can save money and do it myself that is ideal. thanks.

Cranking the TBs on a Toy IFS is good for 1-1.5" lift max. Ride will suffer though, due to changed A-arm angles as well as increased torsional resistance on the TBs. Ball joint spacers are a way to have your cake and eat it too, just a thought. Preserves the ride quality and flexion.
