Default Stuck it to the MAN this A.M.

by passing emissions with my FJ40 right out of the gate...She's never passed first time before...always something...gas cap, high HC...SOMETHING. Apparently the installation of a working smog pump, fixed vacuum leaks, and correct vacuum routing really help with the testing...

Great job Kurt! So you found the correct air cleaner with the HAI?

No, not yet Matt. I'm still only finding the newer cleaners, but still have my ear to the ground, trying to find another. I still have the gate tie-wrapped open...probably I'll change it back to accept the hot air this winter. I did get a portion of the exhaust insulator last weekend at the scrap yard off of a FJ60, so plan on fabricating up a housing for mine from those bones. Great price of only one dollar...

I had a pretty substantial vacuum leak from the brake booster, so got one from a '92
4Runner, then found a bad master is what killed the booster, so got a '90 mini truck master, and slapped it on...Stella sure runs better with that vacuum leak stopped. Funny thing is, the condition changes so gradually, you don't really notice how bad it is until you fix it...Then it's really night and day apparent after.
