Default Post 9/11 international shipping!???

Has anyone tried to ship any large freight out of the country post 9/11?

According to DHL and FedEx (both close to me to swing by for a quote) only small "personal" items can be shipped internationally. Large items cannot be shipped without an EIN. Thankfully I can apply for an EIN with the LLC in my name. The second hurdle is absolutely none of the shipping companies will even give me a quote until I have the EIN number in hand.

Can anyone recommend a 2-3-4-5-6 party I can go through to ship freight out of the country?

DHL is willing to ship "personal" freight for a very reasonable 5770 U.S. dollars!!!

You can substitute your SSN number for an EIN number. You need to complete a shipper's export declaration and a commercial invoice. The UPS store can help with that, or you can do it on line. It is less expensive to use a freight forwarder. Search the Denver area for one. They will collect your freight locally and ship to the coast, consolidate all their outgoing freight there then ship. Any problems and you're dealing with a local outfit. The freight forwarder is the least expensive way to go but it's slower because of the wait as they consolidate on the coast prior to shipment. Post 9-1-1 got the government involved big time and made the process difficult. We ship to China and the Far East all the time. Big pain in the butt!

Forgot to say our shipments are very large and palletized loads that fill half a 40 foot container.
