Default Pre-CM09 projects almost done

Truck didn't need much for this year but since eating well on trail runs has become a RS standard; two projects top my "must haves" for CM09.

First, having enjoyed corndogs on the Rubicon and burritos at the CM pre-run; I really wanted to get a snakster set up on my truck. I was having trouble finding the right grill but thanks to Mr Crase I picked one up at the last meeting; I got it mounted today.

Install on a 93-94 is a bit of a pain. The PAIR valve and plumbing are in the way along with the heater hose. I was able to make room after fashioning a couple brackets to raise the heater line. It is tight but workable.

Second, I had always thought an inverter would be handy so when I was putting in the stereo I made sure to run power to the back. I still wasn't sure what I wanted to run until I tasted UB's crockpot cooking on the Rubicon, that sealed the deal. I knew that I really only need 6-700 watts but I picked up a 1200 watt Vector (modified sine) thinking I might see extended life but only using 1/2 power.

It is mounted in the pass rear qrt panel with one of the stereo amps but I'm still tidying up the wiring so no pics yet. Should post them tommorow.

Default The inverter install

OK all tidy and ready for pics.

Vector 1200 watt with remote on/off switch. I added a fuse block with room to grow and moved the amp that powers the reardoor speakers. For those of you concered about moisture from the window area, I used some black rbber mat to run from the back of the mounting board up to the sheet metal below the window. Any leaks will pass down the back of the mounting.

You can see the inverter through the old subwoofer grill ... should get plenty of air flow to prevent overheating

Edit : I forgot to mention that I now own a very cool hydraulic crimp/swage tool if anyone is building cables or adding dual batteries

I was down to fixing my CB and changing the oil and air filter. Then my clutch decided to go south. Truck still drives, but it starts to engage after holding the pedal down for a few seconds. No external leaks. Hydraulics, either master or slave, I suspect slave since it's original and I replaced the master about 10 years ago. So I ordered in a new kit from CCOT today, 2nd day arrival for Friday, weekend wrenching. Seems like there is always some unexpected repair that pops up just before Moab.

I'd like to see some of those newer rig guys who's only worry is waxing their finish, installing their capuccino maker or some such have a PHH pop up right before Moab. Okay not really :-)

Mike nice set up

Jeff maybe this is what your looking for. Yesterday I went to slee's to replace front disks, realized I hand been given rear pads not fronts, repack front wheel bearings and a tranny fluid exchange. They found 1/2 inch of play in a ball joint so tomorow I'm back down to Slee's to get the lower A-arm replaced.
