Default Beef Basin, Lockhart Basin fun

A few of us met up in the Beef Basin area before CM, and did some exploring in the area. We spent 2.5 days in BB, and then drove the entire length of Lockhart Basin from Hwy 211, north following the Colorado, then up over Hurrah Pass and into the Kane Creek area. Thanks to Perry for showing us around, and to Robbie for guiding us up through Lockhart. I had a great time.

Here's a few pics from that trip.

It's so nice to get out to BB. So many less people and fantastic scenery.

I think Next year i'm going to do the Maze before CM.

Default Lockhart

Robbie looking very expedition-like:

The actual basin

Chris (cigar not shown)

Perry (in full desert ware)

Probably the toughest section of the trail just before the climb up to Hurrah Pass.

That is a fantastic trip!

My buddy Steve and I rode Lockhart a couple of years ago. But since we were on bikes we didn't do the side trip at the Eightmile Rock overlook. Took us about 8 hours to do the 59 miles from the FR122 trailhead (basically we started at the National Park gate) back to Moab McDonalds!

Looks like a great trip guys. Wish I could have been able to make it out there at the same time. Maybe next year.

Great pics. Reminds me of Big Bend...one of my favorite places on this side of the globe.
